Springfield, MO – Residents across southern Missouri can expect another unseasonably warm and mostly sunny day Thursday, with the National Weather Service (NWS) noting only a slim chance of rain.
According to the US National Weather Service Springfield, most areas will remain dry with highs between 86 and 89 degrees and overnight lows dropping into the upper 50s to mid-60s. A very low (<15%) chance of a stray shower or rumble of thunder exists this afternoon, mainly southeast of I-44 and east of Highway 65.
Looking ahead, the warm stretch is expected to continue. Forecasters say highs in the mid-80s will persist through early next week, with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s. A slightly better chance of showers, around 15–30%, could develop by Monday.
For the longer term, the October 9–15 outlook favors above-normal temperatures across Missouri and the central U.S. While rainfall chances appear weak, the NWS notes any precipitation would be welcome relief amid ongoing drought conditions.
Drivers and outdoor workers should prepare for continued hot afternoons, while farmers and gardeners may need to keep irrigation in place until rain chances improve.
