Paducah, Kentucky – One more unseasonably warm day is expected across the Quad State area before a strong cold front moves through tonight, bringing much colder temperatures and single-digit wind chills to start the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, temperatures across western Kentucky, southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, and southwest Indiana will climb into the 60s and 70s Sunday. Conditions will change rapidly tonight as a cold front pushes through the region, ushering in colder air that will persist through at least Tuesday.

High temperatures on Monday and Tuesday are forecast to remain in the 30s across much of the Quad State. Overnight lows will drop into the teens and lower 20s, with wind chill values potentially falling into the single digits during the Monday and Tuesday mornings.

Forecasters said the sharp temperature drop may catch some residents off guard after the recent stretch of mild weather. Gusty winds behind the front will add to the chill, making it feel significantly colder during early morning hours.

In addition to the colder outlook, much of the Quad State remains under a marginal risk for severe weather later Sunday afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service said the primary concern will be damaging wind gusts associated with showers and storms ahead of the cold front. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out, though the overall severe threat remains limited.

Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items today, prepare for colder conditions overnight, and dress in layers early this week. Drivers and outdoor workers should plan for bitter wind chills during the morning commute, particularly on Monday and Tuesday.

Temperatures are expected to gradually moderate later in the week, though conditions will remain cooler than recent days. The National Weather Service advises staying weather-aware as conditions shift quickly over the next 24 hours.
