Paducah, Kentucky – Cold and blustery conditions are expected to persist across western Kentucky today, keeping temperatures well below normal before a noticeable warming trend arrives later this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, high temperatures today will remain in the middle to upper 30s, with gusty winds making conditions feel even colder at times. Forecasters note there is a 70 to 100 percent chance that highs across much of the region will stay in the 30s throughout the day.

A few flurries are possible, particularly near the Evansville Tri-State area, though no measurable snowfall is expected. Skies will gradually trend cloudier, but significant precipitation impacts are not anticipated.

Conditions will begin to improve on Wednesday, with partly sunny skies and highs climbing into the lower to mid-40s, though overnight lows will remain cold, dipping into the upper 20s. New Year’s Day is forecast to be mostly sunny, with highs in the low to mid-40s, offering a calmer start to 2026.

The National Weather Service says a warming trend will continue late this week, with highs reaching the upper 40s to near 50 degrees by Friday and into the weekend. A weak disturbance moving through the Tennessee River Valley on Friday could bring a 25 to 50 percent chance of light rain, mainly affecting southeast Missouri and western Kentucky.

Despite the gradual warmup, early morning lows through the end of the week will continue to fall near or below freezing, which could lead to patchy slick spots on untreated surfaces during the overnight and early morning hours.

Residents are encouraged to dress warmly today, use caution if traveling during colder periods, and stay updated on forecast changes as the late-week system approaches. The latest information is available at weather.gov/pah.
