Joplin, MO – Blustery conditions are expected to persist across parts of southwest Missouri and southeast Kansas through early afternoon as a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. CDT Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, according to the National Weather Service in Springfield.

The advisory covers Bourbon, Cherokee, and Crawford Counties in Kansas, and Barton, Jasper, Newton, McDonald, and Vernon Counties in Missouri—including the cities of Joplin, Pittsburg, Nevada, Lamar, and Carthage.

Forecasters report northwest winds of 20–25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, which may blow around unsecured objects, down tree limbs, and cause isolated power outages. Travel may be challenging, especially for trucks and other high-profile vehicles on open highways.

Winds are expected to gradually diminish by early afternoon as cooler, drier air settles in behind a passing front.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and use extra caution while driving.
