KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A gray November sky and a cutting northwest wind are early signs of what’s to come. Light showers and a few snow flurries may greet parts of the Kansas City metro Sunday morning, marking the city’s first true taste of early winter.

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill says moisture will linger behind a passing cold front, with 30–60% chances for drizzle or light snow early Sunday across northwest Missouri and far eastern Kansas. While no accumulation is expected, residents along I-70 and I-35 should watch for brief slick spots on bridges and overpasses during the morning commute.

Temperatures will tumble as the day goes on — from upper 30s Sunday morning to the low 20s by Monday morning, when wind chills may dip into the teens. That cold start will likely be the chilliest morning so far this season for both Kansas and Missouri.

Skies clear quickly by Monday afternoon, bringing bright sunshine but little warmth. Highs will stay near 40°F with a steady breeze. By Veterans Day, though, a rebound begins — sunshine and southwest winds lift highs into the low 60s, offering a welcome break from the early chill.

To be fair, this pattern fits the season’s trend: warm-cold “whiplash” swings typical of early November. After the weekend chill, Kansas City heads into a calmer stretch, ideal for fall yardwork, early holiday decorating, or late harvest prep before another cool front late next week.
