Missouri – A brisk, quiet morning settles over Kansas City, but the chill won’t last long as a rapid warm-up begins to take hold.

Early temperatures sit in the mid-30s, and the air feels crisp across downtown and along I-70 and I-35. Roads remain dry, offering smooth travel for the morning commute.

By midday, sunshine strengthens and temperatures climb quickly into the upper 60s. Layers will come off fast as the air softens through the afternoon.

This warming trend accelerates heading into late week. Meteorologists are tracking a strong push of spring warmth expanding across the Plains. By Thursday, highs reach the mid-70s under clear skies.

Friday—the first official day of spring—brings a dramatic shift. Temperatures surge to around 83°F with bright sun and light winds. It will feel unusually warm for March, closer to early summer than late winter.

The warmth continues into the weekend. Saturday peaks near 85°F with clear skies and dry conditions. Outdoor plans look ideal, but the dry air may elevate fire weather concerns across parts of Missouri and eastern Kansas.

Drivers should remain aware of changing conditions this time of year. While roads are dry now, rapid temperature swings can still create brief slick spots if moisture appears and refreezes in colder pockets.

Looking ahead, a cooldown arrives late in the weekend into early next week, bringing temperatures back closer to seasonal norms.

Five Day Outlook for Kansas City, Missouri:
Thursday: High 75°F – Sunny and warm
Friday: High 83°F – Spring warmth peaks
Saturday: High 85°F – Sunny, early heat
Sunday: High 72°F – Slightly cooler
Monday: High 55°F – Cooler trend returns
