Missouri – Rain taps steadily on rooftops and splashes across pavement as widespread showers move through Kansas City, creating slick roads and reduced visibility for drivers across the metro. Water is already pooling along I-70 and I-35, slowing traffic in bursts.

According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, rain coverage reaches near 100% through the day, with showers and embedded thunderstorms continuing into the afternoon. Gusty south winds up to 30 mph add to the challenge, especially on open roadways and elevated bridges.

Across Kansas City, Overland Park, and Independence, expect steady wet conditions through the daytime hours. Plan extra travel time and avoid low-lying roads where water can collect quickly. Lightning remains possible, particularly during heavier downpours.

A brief lull develops Monday with only isolated storm chances and highs near 80 degrees. That break will be short-lived. By Tuesday, storm chances climb to 40% during the afternoon, then increase to 60% Tuesday night as another round of rain and thunderstorms arrives.

Midweek looks more active. Wednesday brings additional showers and storms, with rain chances hovering between 40% and 60%. Repeated rainfall could begin to saturate the ground, raising concerns for localized flooding in poor drainage areas.

Looking ahead, warmer air builds late week with highs climbing into the low 80s under partial sunshine.

Five Day Forecast for Kansas City, Missouri:
Monday: Slight chance of storms, high 80°F
Tuesday: Chance of storms, high 85°F
Wednesday: Showers and storms likely, high 78°F
Thursday: Sunny, high 83°F
Friday: Chance of storms, high 81°F
