Missouri – Damp pavement and heavy gray clouds stretch across the St. Louis skyline this morning as spring warmth collides with an incoming cold front. The result could bring strong storms, powerful wind gusts, and even a brief burst of snow by Monday morning.

Temperatures sit near 62°F early this morning at St. Louis Lambert International Airport, with humid air and light southerly winds feeding instability across eastern Missouri and southwest Illinois.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, a Wind Advisory begins at 10 a.m. and continues until noon Monday across the St. Louis metro and surrounding counties.

West winds will strengthen rapidly today, reaching 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Those winds could toss loose objects, snap small tree limbs, and create difficult driving conditions.

Thunderstorms may also develop during the afternoon and early evening. Some storms could produce damaging wind gusts or brief, weak tornadoes, mainly across southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois.

Drivers along Interstates 44, 55, 64, and 70 should prepare for gusty crosswinds and sudden bursts of heavy rain.

Rain becomes more widespread tonight as colder air pushes into the region. As temperatures drop toward the lower 30s, rain may briefly mix with wet snow before sunrise Monday.

Snow accumulation appears limited, but slushy spots could form on bridges or elevated roads during the early commute.

By Monday afternoon, skies begin clearing as colder northwest winds continue across the region.

Sunshine returns Tuesday, setting up a milder stretch heading toward St. Patrick’s Day celebrations across the metro.
