St. Louis, Mo. – The National Weather Service in St. Louis is warning of hazardous travel conditions across parts of Missouri and Illinois as two narrow snow bands move through the region Monday afternoon into tonight.

The first band, stretching across northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois, is expected to bring moderate to heavy snow between noon and 6 p.m., likely impacting the evening commute.

A second band will develop later this evening along and south of I-44 in Missouri and I-70 in Illinois, producing snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and monitor weather.gov for updates as conditions quickly deteriorate under heavier bursts of snow.
