Missouri – Rain taps steadily against windshields across St. Louis this morning as damp air and patchy fog linger over metro highways.

Drivers moving along Interstate 64, I-44, and I-55 are already encountering wet pavement and reduced visibility in spots.

Temperatures hover near 51°F, and the air feels heavy after a round of overnight showers moved through eastern Missouri and southwest Illinois.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, periods of rain and scattered thunderstorms may continue through the morning hours before gradually easing later today.

Some pockets of patchy fog may briefly lower visibility around Lambert Airport, downtown St. Louis, and the Metro East, especially where rain has recently fallen.

By afternoon, clouds begin breaking at times while temperatures climb toward 67°F, giving the region a mild early-March feel.

Storm chances do not disappear entirely.

A few isolated showers or thunderstorms may redevelop late tonight, though widespread severe weather is not expected locally.

The next stronger round of unsettled weather arrives Friday night.

Showers and thunderstorms could redevelop across St. Louis County, St. Charles, and across the Mississippi River into Illinois, bringing heavier rainfall for some areas.

Despite the wet stretches, spring warmth continues building.

Highs may approach 79°F Friday, running well above early-March averages across eastern Missouri and southern Illinois.

Conditions gradually settle by the weekend.

Saturday may still bring a few lingering showers early, but skies trend brighter later in the day. By Sunday, sunshine returns with highs in the mid-60s.

Sunday morning also marks the return of Daylight Saving Time, when clocks move forward one hour at 2 a.m. Expect noticeably brighter evenings next week.

Early next week continues the warming trend across Missouri with highs staying in the upper 70s before another storm system approaches midweek.

If you’re commuting around St. Louis today, are roads wet or foggy where you are?
