Missouri – A gray, steel-cold sky hangs over the Mississippi River this morning as brisk air cuts through coats and gloves. The chill feels settled across eastern Missouri, with winter conditions lining up through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures hover in the lower 20s early, with wind chills stuck in the teens. Skies stay mostly cloudy, and a weak disturbance may squeeze out spotty light snow by late morning. Any snowfall should be minor, but even a dusting can slick bridges and untreated roads.

Drivers should watch elevated surfaces along I-64, I-70, and I-55, where pavement cools quickly. To be fair, widespread travel disruptions are not expected today, but caution remains wise during brief snow bursts.

Colder air presses in tonight. Temperatures drop into the single digits, setting the stage for a cold Friday. Highs only reach the upper teens, and the cold lingers into Friday night with lows near 5 degrees. Outdoor plans will need layers, patience, and frequent warm-up breaks.

Saturday offers little improvement. Sunshine returns, but highs remain near 20. After sunset, temperatures fall sharply again, bottoming out near 3 degrees. Pipes, pets, and exposed skin become the main concerns during the coldest stretch.

Attention then turns to Sunday. Clouds increase, and a new system may bring a light snow chance by afternoon or evening. While confidence on accumulation remains low, any snow could combine with lingering cold to create slick travel conditions across St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and nearby Illinois communities.

Early next week brings gradual relief. Highs rebound into the 30s by Monday, with additional minor snow chances midweek. Flash-freezing remains a concern whenever snow melts slightly during daylight hours.

This pattern reflects a broader Midwest winter grip, reinforced by Arctic air and frozen Great Lakes.
