Missouri – Light rain streaks across windshields this morning in the St. Louis metro, with damp roads already slowing traffic and visibility reduced on key routes.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures sit near 46°F with steady light rain early. Roads along I-64, I-44, and I-70 may remain slick through the morning drive. Drivers should allow extra time and increase following distance.

Conditions improve quickly later today as clouds break and highs climb into the low 60s. That warming trend accelerates into midweek, with sunshine pushing temperatures to around 78°F before surging to near 91°F by Thursday afternoon.

That sharp warm-up sets the stage for the next system. Moisture increases late Thursday, with rain chances jumping to 80% by late evening into early Friday. Thunderstorms could develop, bringing bursts of heavy rain and brief ponding on roads across St. Louis, East St. Louis, and surrounding Illinois communities.

By Friday, cooler air returns fast. Highs drop into the low 50s with lingering rain chances, creating another shift drivers will feel. While no freezing is expected, rapid changes can still impact travel timing and outdoor plans.

Looking ahead, the weekend turns calmer with sunshine and highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s.

Plan around wet roads today and again late Thursday. Conditions may change quickly after sunset Thursday.
