Missouri – Headlights glow through shallow fog across the St. Louis metro this morning as damp air settles along the Mississippi River. Visibility drops in pockets across the region, slowing drivers along I-64, I-55, and I-70 as the city wakes up under gray skies.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until around 9 a.m. across parts of eastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois. Humid air and light winds have allowed fog to thicken in low-lying areas, especially near river valleys and open fields.

Drivers should allow extra travel time through the late morning commute. Reduced visibility may appear suddenly along bridges, river crossings, and rural stretches near the Metro East. Wet pavement and patchy fog could linger through mid-morning before improving visibility returns.

Conditions turn much warmer through the afternoon as clouds thin and temperatures climb toward 78 degrees across the St. Louis region. South winds may gust close to 28 mph, adding a breezy feel to the springlike air.

Another system arrives later tonight. Rain and thunderstorms develop after midnight across eastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois, bringing a high chance of rainfall and occasional lightning through early morning hours. Downpours could briefly reduce visibility and create slick roadways along the region’s major interstates.

Weather improves quickly through the weekend. Partial sunshine Saturday pushes highs into the mid-60s before skies clear further. By Sunday, bright sunshine and highs near 67 degrees bring classic early-spring conditions across the Gateway City.

Early Sunday morning also marks the start of Daylight Saving Time as clocks jump ahead at 2 a.m., giving the St. Louis area longer evening daylight.

Mild temperatures continue into early next week with highs approaching the upper 70s again by Monday and Tuesday as spring warmth builds across the Midwest.
