Missouri – Warm air is already pushing into the St. Louis region this morning, and the shift is noticeable. Light winds and clearing skies are setting up a fast climb toward early April warmth.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures jump into the low 70s today, then surge to around 84°F by Monday with steady south winds increasing through the afternoon.
That warmth won’t last long. Moisture surges back into Missouri and western Illinois by Tuesday afternoon. A developing storm system brings a growing chance for rain and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., with coverage expanding into the evening.
By Tuesday night, rain chances spike to near 90%, with periods of steady rain and embedded thunderstorms likely across the St. Louis metro. Roads like I-64, I-44, and I-55 could turn slick quickly, especially during late-night travel.
Plan ahead. Wet pavement and reduced visibility will slow commutes into early Wednesday. Ponding on roads is possible in low-lying areas.
Wednesday stays unsettled, with rain likely continuing through much of the day and highs dropping into the mid-50s. That’s nearly a 30-degree swing from Monday’s warmth.
Behind the rain, cooler air settles in but remains above freezing, limiting any winter weather concerns. Still, the sharp temperature drop will feel brisk compared to the early-week “summer tease.”
Looking ahead, additional rain chances linger into late week, keeping soil damp and skies gray at times.
