Missouri & Illinois Tornado Outbreak: 12 Twisters Confirmed on March 14, EF-3 Damage Reported

St. Louis, MO – A series of tornadoes tore through Missouri and Illinois on March 14, with the National Weather Service (NWS) confirming 12 tornado tracks across the region. Several of these storms reached EF-2 and EF-3 intensity, causing significant damage.

According to NWS St. Louis, the most intense tornadoes reached wind speeds of up to 165 mph. The strongest tornado, an EF-3, struck Fremont and Grady, MO, carving a 26.7-mile path with a width of 500 yards. Another EF-3 tornado affected Clearwater Lake, Des Arc, and Saco, MO, with winds reaching 155 mph and a track nearly 30 miles long.

In Illinois, Perryville, MO, and Leanderville, IL, experienced another EF-3 tornado, producing 135 mph winds and a 25.1-mile path. Additionally, EF-2 tornadoes struck areas such as Chesterfield, Hazelwood, Florissant, and Alton, IL, with winds up to 122 mph and a width of three-quarters of a mile.

Other tornadoes, ranging from EF-1 to EF-2, impacted towns including Union, New Haven, Wildwood, and Arnold, MO. Damage assessments continue as emergency crews work to restore power and assist affected residents. Authorities urge residents to remain alert for potential severe weather threats in the coming weeks.
