Paducah, KY – Dangerously high heat will grip the Quad State region through 7 p.m. Friday, with heat index values soaring as high as 107°F in cities like Paducah, Poplar Bluff, and Cape Girardeau.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a Heat Advisory remains in effect for southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and southwest Indiana. Daily maximum heat indices between 100°F and 105°F are expected across the region, especially during the afternoon hours. The advisory includes key travel corridors such as I-55, I-57, and the US-60 corridor, where drivers should take extra precautions.

Residents in Evansville, Owensboro, and Carbondale are urged to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and never leave children or pets in vehicles. With minimal relief overnight and only scattered storms expected, heat-related illnesses remain a concern.

Storm chances may increase this weekend, offering brief cooling in isolated areas. Still, most communities will remain under oppressive humidity and dangerous heat levels through at least Monday. A more significant break in the pattern may arrive by the middle of next week.
