St. Louis, MO – Missouri is preparing for a dangerous heat wave expected to hit today and Monday, with the most widespread and impactful heat likely on Monday. Temperatures are predicted to reach between 92 to 97 degrees today, with a heat index ranging from 100 to 105 degrees.
According to the US National Weather Service, temperatures on Monday are forecasted to be even higher, with highs between 94 to 99 degrees and a heat index possibly reaching 110 degrees in the afternoon. Residents are advised to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks, and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure to mitigate the effects of the extreme heat.
An Air Quality Alert has been issued and is expected to last until 8:15 PM CDT on Sunday, July 14. Additionally, a Heat Advisory is in effect until 1:00 PM CDT. Temperatures are anticipated to remain high throughout the week, with Monday’s high reaching 97 degrees. The heat will begin to subside slightly on Tuesday, with a high of 94 degrees and a 30% chance of thunderstorms, offering some relief.
Wednesday and Thursday will see cooler temperatures, with highs of 86 and 82 degrees respectively, and a 50% chance of rain on Wednesday. The trend of milder weather will continue into the weekend, with highs ranging from 81 to 86 degrees.
