Springfield, MO – A stretch of warm, mostly dry weather continues across southwest Missouri this week, though a weak cold front will bring a brief cool-down and light rain chances early in the period.
According to the US National Weather Service in Springfield, temperatures are expected to stay warmer than average through Monday, with highs in the mid-80s. Locations east of Highway 5 could see scattered showers Monday and Tuesday, with rainfall chances ranging from 15 to 40 percent.
By midweek, cooler—but still pleasant—conditions will return. Forecast highs for Wednesday and Thursday are expected to fall into the upper 70s, before rebounding slightly into the low 80s by Friday. Overnight lows will generally range from the upper 40s to mid-50s.
Forecasters note that these temperatures represent a shift closer to normal for early October, following an unseasonably warm start to the month. No significant rainfall or severe weather is expected, and most areas should remain dry through the end of the week.
Residents planning outdoor activities can expect mostly sunny skies, with brief cloud cover early in the week as the front passes.
