Springfield, Missouri – Torrential rain and isolated storms could drench parts of southwest Missouri Tuesday, but sunshine is on the way for the Fourth of July weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, a Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for Christian, Greene, and Stone counties until 2:45 a.m. Tuesday. Radar estimates show 1 to 4 inches of rain have already fallen, with flash flooding ongoing or imminent in low-lying areas. Key crossings and creeks, including Wilson Creek and Sac River at County Road 1247, remain at risk. Drivers should avoid flooded roads, especially overnight into early Tuesday.

Scattered thunderstorms may redevelop throughout Tuesday, July 1, with a 50% chance of rain by midday. Gusty winds up to 60 mph and hail up to quarter-size are possible with stronger storms. Temperatures will reach the mid-80s with high humidity. The NWS also warns of elevated lightning risk and marginal wind damage potential in the Ozarks.

Relief arrives Wednesday as dry, sunny weather takes over. Temperatures rise daily, hitting 90°F by Thursday and staying hot through the weekend. Independence Day Friday looks sunny and near 92°F, ideal for outdoor plans — but residents should stay hydrated and limit exposure during peak heat.
