Springfield, MO – A flood warning has been issued for several Missouri counties, with flooding caused by excessive rainfall continuing through early Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, the warning will remain in effect until 5 a.m. CDT on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Affected areas include portions of central, east-central, and southwest Missouri, covering counties such as Camden, Dallas, Laclede, Maries, Miller, Phelps, and Pulaski.
The flooding is a result of up to 3.5 inches of rain, which has already caused streams to rise and created hazardous conditions across the region. Low water crossings, including those at Maries River, Wet Glaize, and Smoky Hollow, are particularly susceptible. Residents in cities like Rolla, Lebanon, Waynesville, and Fort Leonard Wood are urged to remain cautious.
“Turn around, don’t drown” is the key message from the Department of Transportation, which urges drivers to avoid flooded roads. Be especially cautious after dark when flooding may be harder to see.
