Kansas City, MO – Missouri residents should brace for a significant heatwave starting Saturday. The National Weather Service in Kansas City reports that temperatures will climb into the 90s over the weekend, with the possibility of triple digits by Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, Kansas City is forecasted to reach 94°F on Saturday, 96°F on Sunday, and a scorching 99°F on Monday. St. Joseph is expected to hit 93°F on Saturday, 96°F on Sunday, and 100°F on Monday. Other areas such as Kirksville and Sedalia will also see temperatures rise to the mid-90s and beyond.

The intense heat is attributed to a high-pressure system lingering over the Midwest. Meteorologists advise residents to take precautions against the extreme temperatures, including staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and checking on vulnerable individuals such as the elderly and young children.

Beyond Monday, the heatwave will persist with temperatures remaining high throughout the week. Kansas City can expect 98°F on Monday, followed by slightly cooler yet still hot temperatures of 93°F on Tuesday and 87°F on Wednesday and Thursday. The weekend should see a modest drop to 88°F on Friday and 89°F on Saturday.
