Kansas City, Missouri β Drivers across western and central Missouri should prepare for limited visibility overnight as a Dense Fog Advisory takes effect at midnight, reducing conditions to as low as 1/4 mile until 10 a.m. Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, the advisory primarily affects areas west of Highway 65, including Kansas City, St. Joseph, Topeka, Emporia, and Butler. Fog is expected to be especially thick near rivers and valleys, where travel may become hazardous during early morning hours.
Low visibility could significantly impact road safety along I-70, I-35, and Highway 50. Commuters and early travelers are urged to use low-beam headlights, reduce speed, and avoid unnecessary driving until visibility improves.
With Thanksgiving travel beginning to ramp up, the advisory comes at a critical time. Drivers should allow extra time and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions, particularly in rural and low-lying areas.
The Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through 10 a.m. Sunday. Additional weather statements or advisories could be issued if conditions worsen.
