Kansas City, MO – Drivers across central Missouri are facing dangerous conditions as a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday. Visibility is reduced to less than a quarter mile in some areas, especially along major routes like I-70 and I-35, creating hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Kansas City, visibility is expected to remain below three miles across much of the region. Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra time for travel this morning. NWS also cautions about potential northeastward expansion of the advisory into surrounding counties.
The foggy start will give way to mostly cloudy skies Saturday afternoon, with a high near 54°F. Saturday night will bring patchy fog and a low around 40°F. Sunday’s weather will see gradual clearing after morning fog, with highs reaching the low 50s and light northwest winds.
Looking ahead to New Year’s week, Monday starts cloudy, with a 30% chance of rain by afternoon and highs near 52°F. Rain is more likely Monday night, with a low near 34°F. Tuesday remains mostly cloudy and cooler, with highs only reaching 38°F. Dry conditions are expected for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, with sunny skies and highs in the mid-30s.
Residents should remain cautious this morning and monitor updates from local weather officials. Travelers are encouraged to check conditions before heading out.
