ST. LOUIS, MO – Wind gusts rattle through the metro this morning, carrying the sharp chill of winter’s first persistent pattern. After a brief lull today, snow is set to return Monday afternoon, potentially bringing 1 to 2 inches of accumulation to eastern Missouri and southwest Illinois by Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis reports that a second round of snow will move into the region Monday, following Saturday’s wintry system. Roads that refroze overnight could become slick again as new snow coats untreated surfaces. Drivers along I-70, I-55, and I-64 should prepare for reduced visibility and icy bridges during the evening commute.

Winds will stay brisk, gusting up to 30 mph, which could cause patchy blowing snow and drifting in open areas north and west of the city. Temperatures will hover near freezing during the day, but drop quickly into the 20s after sunset — a setup ripe for black ice formation into Tuesday morning.

By Tuesday afternoon, skies will clear as high pressure settles in, but cold air lingers, keeping highs in the low 30s. Another weak system later in the week could bring flurries and a reinforcing shot of Arctic air heading into the first weekend of December.

Five-Day Outlook:

  • Sunday: Partly sunny, high 27°F.
  • Monday: Snow developing PM, 1–2 inches possible, high 31°F.
  • Tuesday: Partly sunny, high 31°F.
  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny, high 40°F.
  • Thursday: Slight chance of snow, high 32°F.
