Harrisonville, MO – Two burglary suspects were taken into custody Thursday after a multi-agency vehicle pursuit that moved across several major highways in Cass County, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

According to deputies, the incident began early Thursday afternoon when the Sheriff’s Office was notified by Kansas City Police detectives about a burglary suspect believed to be traveling through the county. Deputies located the vehicle near the north entrance of Lake Winnebago and attempted a traffic stop as it headed south on 291 Highway. The driver allegedly refused to stop, prompting a pursuit.

Deputies said the suspect vehicle continued west on 58 Highway and entered the city of Raymore before turning south again toward rural areas. The chase ended in a field just south of Heron Street near J Highway after deputies initiated a grapple maneuver, disabling the vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody immediately, authorities said. A perimeter search began for a second occupant who fled on foot. After a K-9 sweep, the passenger was found hiding inside a nearby outbuilding and taken into custody without further incident.

Both individuals are now in custody and facing pending charges out of Cass County. The Sheriff’s Office thanked the Lake Winnebago Police Department, Raymore Police Department, and Missouri State Highway Patrol for assisting in the incident.

No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
