Springfield, MO – Rain is on the horizon for much of Missouri, starting late Monday and continuing through the week. Residents along the I-44 corridor should prepare for potential wet travel conditions as rainfall spreads south and east.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Springfield office, rain chances will begin increasing Monday night, with the heaviest rainfall expected Monday into Tuesday. Areas along I-44 are forecast to receive between 0.50 to 1.25 inches of rain by Wednesday. Temperatures will trend warmer, reaching highs in the upper 40s to low 50s by midweek.
Rainfall is expected to continue through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with occasional dry periods. Travelers should monitor road conditions closely and allow extra time for trips, particularly along I-44. While temperatures will remain above freezing, wet roads combined with holiday traffic could create delays.
The NWS reports that Wednesday’s Christmas forecast will feature cloudy skies, scattered rain chances, and highs approaching 50 degrees in Springfield and surrounding areas. More consistent rain may return Thursday and Friday, with highs climbing into the mid-50s to low 60s.
Residents are encouraged to check forecasts frequently for updates as conditions evolve. Visit weather.gov for detailed maps and travel advice.
