Springfield, MO – A powerful winter storm is set to impact Missouri early this week, bringing heavy snow and dangerously low wind chills. Travel disruptions and hazardous conditions are expected, especially Monday night through Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Monday night through late Tuesday night for central, east central, south central, southwest, and west central Missouri. Forecasts predict 7 to 14 inches of snow, with gusty winds and subzero wind chills creating blowing and drifting snow hazards.

Monday (Washington’s Birthday): Mostly sunny, with a high near 38°F. Light winds from the east at 6-10 mph.

Monday Night: A 30% chance of snow after midnight, low around 18°F.

Tuesday: Heavy snow expected, with 100% chance of precipitation. High near 22°F. Travel may become difficult to impossible.

Tuesday Night: Snow continues, tapering off after midnight. Low near 3°F with wind chills well below zero.

Wednesday-Friday: Bitter cold persists, with highs in the teens and lows plunging below zero.

Travelers should monitor road conditions, delay unnecessary travel, and prepare for extreme cold.
