Memphis, TN – A significant winter storm is set to impact the Mid-South through Wednesday, bringing heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions across Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, snowfall totals north of Interstate 40 could reach 3 to 5 inches, with higher amounts expected in far northeast Arkansas and the Missouri Bootheel. Areas south of I-40, including Memphis, will see a mix of sleet and snow this evening, transitioning to snow overnight, with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon Wednesday, covering parts of eastern Arkansas, western Tennessee, and southeastern Missouri. Officials warn of slippery roads and dangerous travel conditions, especially during the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and keep emergency supplies, such as flashlights, food, and water, in their vehicles. Road condition updates are available by dialing 511 in affected states.

Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing through midweek, prolonging icy conditions. Authorities urge caution on roads, especially on bridges and overpasses, which may freeze quickly.
