Little Rock, Ark. – Flash flooding is likely across the Ozarks through tonight as several rounds of thunderstorms bring intense rainfall—some exceeding 2 inches per hour—especially around central Arkansas.

According to the NOAA Weather Prediction Center, a Moderate Risk of Excessive Rainfall has been issued for parts of the state, including areas near Little Rock and the northern counties bordering Missouri. The risk extends through Monday night, with numerous flash floods expected in the highlighted red zone.

Cities like Conway, Batesville, and Mountain View could see flooded roads and rising creeks, especially in low-lying and poorly drained areas. Local emergency services are urging drivers to stay off the roads if water is present. The heavy rain threat also stretches north toward southern Missouri and east into western Tennessee, affecting portions of U.S. Highway 65 and I-40.

Residents are advised to stay weather-aware, charge mobile devices, and avoid nighttime travel when floodwaters may be harder to detect. This level of rainfall is uncommon for mid-May and mirrors past spring flood events in the Ozarks region.

Flood watches and warnings may expand if storms persist overnight. Stay tuned to local alerts and never drive through flooded roadways—turn around, don’t drown.
