Jackson, Miss. – Drivers across central Mississippi woke to dense fog Friday morning, with visibility dropping to near 600 feet in some areas, raising hazards for commuters on I-20 and local highways. The fog is expected to lift by late morning, giving way to clear skies and warm conditions through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, Friday’s high will reach near 84 degrees under mostly sunny skies once the fog dissipates. Winds will turn north at 5 to 10 mph, helping to clear out lingering mist. Officials urge motorists to use headlights and reduce speed until visibility improves.

The weekend brings near-perfect fall weather, with highs climbing into the mid-80s on Saturday and Sunday. Nights will cool into the low 60s, with clear skies persisting. By Monday, temperatures are set to rise slightly, topping out near 90 degrees before easing back into the upper 80s midweek.

With little chance of rain and calm winds, outdoor plans across the Jackson metro will be largely unaffected. Conditions remain stable through at least Tuesday, when sunshine and warm afternoons continue.
