JACKSON, Miss. – A few northern Mississippi communities could see brief showers Tuesday, but most of the state will stay hot and dry as summer-like conditions continue.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, isolated storms are possible mainly north of Interstate 20. Even where storms do form, rainfall will be scattered and not enough to ease ongoing dryness across much of the region.
Highs will climb into the low to mid-90s across central and southern Mississippi, with only slightly cooler conditions in the north where clouds and storms may develop. Cities like Greenville, Columbus, and Tupelo have the best chance at rain, while Jackson, Vicksburg, and Hattiesburg are likely to stay dry.
Drivers on I-55 and I-20 may encounter brief downpours and reduced visibility where storms pop up, though widespread travel disruptions are not expected. With heat and humidity combining, outdoor workers and athletes are urged to take breaks and stay hydrated.
The pattern keeps Mississippi hot and mostly dry through midweek, with only small chances of isolated storms returning by the weekend.
