Jackson, MS – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson reports that Greenwood, Mississippi, set a new daily rainfall record on Saturday, October 18, 2025, after 1.34 inches of rain were measured at Greenwood Leflore Airport.

The previous record for this date was 0.95 inches, set back in 1988. Saturday’s steady rain easily surpassed that mark, marking the wettest October 18 in Greenwood’s recorded history.

Forecasters noted that the rain was associated with a passing cold front that brought widespread showers across the Mississippi Delta region. While totals varied, Greenwood received one of the higher amounts observed in the area.

No flooding was reported, but residents may continue to see damp conditions into early Sunday as cooler, drier air moves in behind the front.
