Jackson, MS – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas until 7 a.m. CST Wednesday, with mixed precipitation expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, the storm will bring up to one inch of snow and sleet, along with a light glaze of ice. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph, increasing the risk of slick roads and reduced visibility. Affected areas include cities such as Greenwood, Greenville, Cleveland, Bastrop, and Lake Village.

Officials warn that road conditions may become dangerous, particularly for the Wednesday morning commute. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution when traveling.

Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing overnight, increasing the likelihood of lingering ice on bridges and overpasses. Residents should check for road condition updates by calling 511.

The winter weather system is part of a broader cold front sweeping through the region, bringing unseasonably cold temperatures. The advisory covers southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana, and multiple counties in central and northern Mississippi.

Motorists should plan for delays and allow extra travel time through Wednesday morning.
