According to the National Weather Service, Friday will bring even cooler daytime highs near 57°F, with gusty northwest winds increasing to 25 mph. Widespread frost is expected to develop overnight into Saturday morning as temperatures plummet to 29°F. Residents are advised to cover sensitive plants and ensure outdoor pets are safe during freezing nights.
Saturday’s high will hover near 50°F under sunny skies, but frosty conditions will return Saturday night with lows around 31°F. Frost will linger Sunday morning before sunshine pushes temperatures to a high of 56°F.
Those planning holiday travel or outdoor activities should take precautions for the freezing conditions this weekend, particularly before 8 a.m. each day. By Monday, daytime temperatures will warm slightly, nearing 62°F, with frost gradually diminishing.
Drivers along I-55 and I-20 are urged to remain alert for possible slick patches on rural roads during frosty mornings.
