Jackson, MS – Light rain is expected across central and northern Mississippi through Tuesday, but forecasters say the totals will likely be minimal.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, the state’s best chance for rain will come later Sunday through Tuesday, with most areas expected to see less than half an inch of precipitation. Even in higher-probability zones, rainfall is expected to remain under one inch.
A forecast map from NWS Jackson shows light green shading across most of central Mississippi, indicating minor rainfall accumulation. Western counties such as Vicksburg and Greenville may see slightly higher totals, but the agency emphasized that “totals remain pretty insignificant overall.”
The rainfall outlook provides limited relief for ongoing dry-to-moderate drought conditions across parts of the region. The system could bring brief, scattered showers but is not expected to cause any travel issues or flooding concerns.
Forecasters added that temperatures will remain seasonably mild through midweek, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and overnight lows in the upper 50s.
Residents should still monitor forecasts for updates, as isolated pockets of heavier rain could develop near the Louisiana border and southwestern Mississippi.
