Jackson, MS – Sunshine breaks through the morning haze across central Mississippi this Friday, but it’s a deceptive calm before a stormy turn. Temperatures will surge to the low 80s, more reminiscent of early fall’s lingering warmth than late October’s chill, but changes are already brewing to the west.

By Saturday afternoon, clouds will thicken, humidity will climb, and a chance of showers emerges after 2 p.m. Winds shift from the southeast, signaling the arrival of a moist Gulf air mass that will fuel developing rain and isolated thunderstorms into Saturday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, showers and a few thunderstorms become likely late Saturday, continuing into Sunday morning. Rainfall totals may reach one to two inches, especially in low-lying areas and near I-20, where slow-moving storms could briefly cause ponding on roadways.

Sunday remains damp, with on-and-off showers and a lingering chance of thunder through midday before gradual clearing late in the day. Temperatures hold steady in the 70s but fall slightly behind the front as cooler, drier air filters in Sunday night.

Looking ahead, Monday stays mild with partial clearing, but another system may bring spotty rain Tuesday.

While there’s no sign of winter weather yet, the pattern shift is clear — warm days, wet weekends, and a cooling trend ahead. With Halloween less than a week away, models hint at cooler, dry conditions returning just in time for trick-or-treaters across central Mississippi.
