Jackson, MS – October is off to a summerlike start in Mississippi, with the National Weather Service (NWS) forecasting above-normal temperatures well into next week.

According to the NWS Jackson office, daily highs will run about 5 degrees warmer than average, holding in the mid to upper 80s with a few locations likely reaching the low 90s. For reference, the normal high for early October is about 84 degrees.

The extended forecast shows warm conditions persisting through Tuesday, October 7, 2025, across central and southern Mississippi, including Jackson, Hattiesburg, Brookhaven, and surrounding communities. The 6–10 day temperature outlook highlights a strong likelihood of above-average warmth across much of the Southeast and Deep South.

The unusual early fall heat follows a trend of lingering summer weather that could impact outdoor activities, energy use, and air quality. While no hazardous heat advisories are in effect, residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and use caution during prolonged outdoor exposure.

Meteorologists note that fall cold fronts are expected to eventually shift temperatures downward later in the month, but for now, summerlike afternoons remain the pattern.
