Jackson, Mississippi – Parts of Mississippi will swelter under dangerously hot and humid conditions Saturday, with heat index values climbing near 105°F across the western and southern regions.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, a Level 1 Limited Heat Stress Advisory is in effect for cities including Vicksburg, Greenville, and Brookhaven. Daytime highs will range from the low to mid-90s, and even brief exposure could lead to fatigue or heat exhaustion—especially during outdoor work or recreation.
The alert covers much of the Mississippi Delta and extends south through areas like Natchez and McComb. Residents in Jackson and Yazoo City are also within the highlighted danger zone. Officials urge people to stay indoors during peak heat, hydrate regularly, and never leave children or pets in vehicles.
Although Saturday’s alert is categorized as “Limited,” health risks remain serious with prolonged exposure. This is the second heat stress event this week, and more could follow as July temperatures remain above average.
Warnings remain in effect through Saturday evening. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen.
