Hatley, MS — A brief tornado touched down in Hatley, Mississippi, on Sunday night, causing minor damage but no injuries or fatalities, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the NWS Memphis office, the EF-0 tornado struck Monroe County between 9:09 and 9:11 p.m. CST on March 23. It reached estimated peak winds of 75 mph, tracked a path of 1.89 miles, and had a maximum width of 50 yards.

The tornado did not cause any reported injuries or deaths, and damage assessments remain ongoing. The tornado was the result of a fast-moving system that passed through northeast Mississippi, bringing scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds across the region.

This EF-0 classification is the weakest on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, typically involving minimal structural damage. However, authorities remind residents that even weaker tornadoes can pose significant risks, especially after dark.
