Jackson, MS – The National Weather Service in Jackson is cautioning drivers across central and southern Mississippi to prepare for patchy, dense fog early Monday morning that could reduce visibility to one-quarter to one-half mile in spots.

According to the NWS, fog is expected to develop between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m., potentially impacting commuters and early morning travelers along Interstate 20, U.S. 49, and nearby highways. The agency has classified the threat as “Limited (Level 1)”, meaning conditions are not widespread but may cause localized travel hazards.

Motorists are urged to use low beam headlights, increase following distance, and allow extra time to reach destinations safely. Conditions should gradually improve by mid-morning as temperatures rise and fog lifts.

Forecasters note that additional fog formation may occur again overnight Monday into early Tuesday if winds remain light and humidity stays high.
