Jackson, MS – A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for parts of Mississippi and northeast Louisiana until 9 a.m. CST Saturday, significantly reducing visibility and creating hazardous driving conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, visibility is expected to drop to one-quarter mile or less in areas including Hattiesburg, Meridian, Natchez, and Brookhaven. The advisory covers portions of central, southeast, and southwest Mississippi, as well as Concordia and Catahoula parishes in Louisiana.

Motorists are advised to use extreme caution while driving. The NWS recommends reducing speed, using low-beam headlights, and maintaining extra distance between vehicles to prevent accidents. Foggy conditions can make intersections, stop signs, and other road hazards difficult to see.

The advisory is expected to lift by mid-morning as temperatures rise and fog begins to dissipate. However, drivers should remain vigilant, especially in low-lying areas and near water bodies where fog may persist longer than expected.
