Jackson, MS – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, Mississippi, has confirmed at least eight tornadoes from the severe weather outbreak on March 14-15. Damage surveys are ongoing, with some tornado paths still incomplete due to accessibility issues and boundary complications.
According to the NWS, tornadoes were recorded across multiple counties, with ratings ranging from EF-2 to a preliminary EF-3. Notable confirmed tornadoes include an EF-2 near Belzoni/Sidon/Greenwood, another EF-2 in Duck Hill/Elliott/Gore Springs, and a preliminary EF-3 in northwest Marion County, affecting Society Hill, Carson, and western Covington County.
Other areas impacted include Grace/Nitta Yuma, Hot Coffee, NW Marion County, north of Bassfield and west of Collins, and Seminary. Some assessments remain incomplete, particularly in sections of Greenwood, Taylorsville, and areas west of the Mississippi River.
NWS officials are continuing surveys in affected regions, including East Carroll Parish and the counties of Carroll, Clarke, Covington, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lauderdale, Marion, Newton, Smith, and Washington. Additional data is being collected from reports, pictures, and videos submitted by the public.
Residents are urged to remain cautious while cleanup and recovery efforts continue. Further updates will be provided as assessments are completed.
