Mississippi, Louisiana Tornado Update: 3 Tracks Confirmed From Weekend Storms

Jackson, MS – The National Weather Service in Jackson has confirmed three tornadoes touched down across portions of Mississippi and Louisiana during the storms late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

According to the NWS, survey teams identified an EF-1 tornado near Hunters Bend, Louisiana, with peak winds estimated at 105 mph. The twister, which struck around 7:45 p.m. CDT on October 18, traveled 3.9 miles with a maximum width of 350 yards. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

In Mississippi, two EF-0 tornadoes were confirmed. The first occurred near Eagle Bend Road southwest of Yazoo City around 9:30 p.m. CDT on October 18, producing 85 mph winds along a 3-mile path. The second touched down near Johns, Mississippi, at approximately 2:07 a.m. CDT on October 19, with 75 mph winds and a 6.7-mile track. Both were relatively weak, causing only minor structural and tree damage.

The NWS issued its official findings on October 21, 2025, noting that while the tornadoes were brief, they highlight the ongoing risk of fall severe weather in the region. Residents are encouraged to review safety plans as additional storm systems move through the South this month.
