Jackson, Miss. – Patchy fog is creating travel concerns across central and southern Mississippi this morning, with reduced visibility expected through 9 a.m. Wednesday. Drivers in cities like Jackson, Brookhaven, and Meridian may encounter low clouds and dense fog during the early commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, visibility could fall to as low as one-quarter mile in spots, especially along I-55 and I-20. The fog threat is rated as Level 1 (Limited), covering much of the region from Natchez to Columbus. Motorists are urged to use low beams, leave extra space between vehicles, and allow more time to reach destinations safely.
While the fog will lift by mid-morning, the rest of the day looks dry and slightly less humid, with highs reaching the lower 90s. Rain chances remain minimal statewide through the weekend, offering a reprieve ahead of Fourth of July celebrations.
Expect a return to hotter conditions by the end of the week, with heat index values climbing once again. Updates will be issued if additional advisories are needed.
