Jackson, Miss. – A surge of early-season heat is set to take hold across Mississippi and Alabama, bringing summerlike warmth and largely dry conditions during the busy spring break travel period.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, both states will experience temperatures running 30 to 50 percent above normal from March 24 through March 30. Precipitation trends lean below normal in parts of Mississippi and near normal but limited in Alabama, supporting extended stretches of dry weather.

Across Jackson, Gulfport, Birmingham, and Mobile, daytime highs are expected to climb into the upper 70s and low to mid-80s. Morning temperatures will remain mild in the 50s and 60s. Major corridors including I-55, I-20, I-10, and I-65 are expected to remain mostly dry, supporting smooth regional travel.

Drivers should prepare for warmer conditions during peak afternoon hours, which can increase fatigue on longer trips. Stay hydrated and plan ahead for breaks. Patchy morning fog may develop in low-lying and coastal areas but should clear quickly after sunrise.

For baseball fans across Mississippi and Alabama, including those following the Braves and regional teams, the opening stretch of the season will feel more like early summer, with light clothing recommended.

This warm pattern is expected to hold through late March, with only minor changes possible heading into early April.
