Wisconsin Dells, WI – The Wisconsin Dells Police Department has reported that one of the two missing boaters has been found dead in the Wisconsin River. The discovery was made around 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday after a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) aircraft assisted in locating a submerged item of interest. A search boat was deployed and confirmed the recovery of the missing individual.

According to police, the river’s fast current has made the search for the second boater particularly challenging. Authorities continue their efforts to locate the second individual, with divers and sonar equipment being utilized. However, the swift current has posed additional risks to their search efforts.

Authorities are coordinating with local agencies, including the Wisconsin DNR, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office. The search efforts have also been supported by Columbia County’s Medical Examiner’s Office and Bruce’s Legacy.

Officials have not released the name of the deceased or the missing boater at this time, with further updates expected as the search continues.
