Minooka, IL – Residents in Minooka and Channahon are invited to safely dispose of personal documents at a free community shred event on Saturday, October 4th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will be held at Minooka Fire Protection District Station #1, located at 7901 E. Minooka Rd., in the parking lot behind the building.
According to the Minooka Fire Protection District, participants can bring confidential documents to be shredded on-site, helping reduce the risk of identity theft. Each vehicle will be limited to three boxes of materials.
Organizers request that residents remove binder clips and metal rings from their papers. However, staples and paper clips do not need to be removed. The service is designed to offer residents quick and secure disposal while promoting peace of mind.
Community shred events have become increasingly popular in Will County and surrounding areas as residents seek safe, environmentally responsible ways to discard sensitive documents. The Minooka Fire District notes that past events have drawn strong participation from both Minooka and neighboring Channahon residents.
The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is required.
