Twin Cities, MN – Residents across central and eastern Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin should prepare for widespread frost and freezing temperatures tonight. The National Weather Service in Twin Cities reports that overnight lows are expected to fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s, marking one of the coldest nights so far this fall.

According to the National Weather Service, a frost advisory has been expanded to include the Twin Cities metro, with freeze warnings in effect for much of central and northern Minnesota. Skies will remain mostly clear, allowing temperatures to plummet after sunset, with frost formation likely in low-lying and rural areas.

Homeowners are encouraged to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing as the season’s first hard freeze may occur in some spots. Farmers and gardeners should take precautions to prevent crop or garden damage overnight.

Despite the chilly start, the forecast improves later in the week. Highs are expected to return to the mid-60s Wednesday and climb into the low to mid-70s by the weekend, bringing back mild, sunny conditions across the region.
