St. Paul, MN – Minnesota and Wisconsin are gearing up for a weekend of intense weather changes, culminating in a heatwave with temperatures expected to soar into the mid-90s by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, the region will experience a stark shift from quiet conditions on Friday to heavy rain and thunderstorms on Saturday. Rainfall amounts are projected to reach between 1 to 2 inches across southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, raising concerns about potential flooding in some areas.

As the weekend progresses, residents will face sweltering heat. Sunday’s forecast predicts hot and humid conditions, with the heat index pushing temperatures into the mid-90s. An isolated chance of thunderstorms persists, but the primary concern will be the oppressive heat.

Health officials are urging residents to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours. The combination of heavy rain followed by high temperatures could also lead to challenging conditions for those traveling or participating in outdoor events.
