La Crosse, Wisconsin – Scattered severe storms could sweep into western Wisconsin Monday evening, bringing the threat of damaging winds and hail to cities including La Crosse and Eau Claire.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, a line of storms will push east-southeast out of Minnesota between 6 p.m. and midnight. Areas under a Level 2 storm risk—particularly near La Crosse, Decorah, and Rochester—could see wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to a quarter inch. The highest storm threat lies in southeastern Minnesota, where a Level 3 risk has been issued.

Northwest Wisconsin, including parts of Eau Claire County, is also at moderate risk. Farther east, areas like Madison and Prairie du Chien fall under a Level 1 marginal risk but should still stay alert.

Travelers should avoid unnecessary driving during storms, secure outdoor items, and be prepared for power outages. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather alerts and take shelter during warnings.

Storms are expected to weaken as they move eastward overnight, but updated advisories may be issued if tracks shift.
